Colbert Shocked at Late-Night Monster He Created

Dr. Frankenstein is mad about the creature he brought to life.

Stephen Colbert admonished his lapdog live audience this week following a story tied to, who else, President Donald Trump.

Colbert noted how the Left-wing fever swamp, although he didn’t use those words, went craz(ier) in recent days over a rumor that President Trump had died.

“When I came back into the office, I was shocked to learn that, this weekend, the biggest story was frenzied social media rumors speculating whether Donald Trump had died. For the record, Donald Trump is very much alive.”

The “Late Show” audience erupted in boos.

“No. We like our presidents alive. Donald Trump is very much alive.”

Colbert had to instruct his sycophants that wishing for a U.S. president’s death isn’t morally sound. It’s unclear if said audience took the message to heart, but its implications couldn’t be clearer.

They want him dead, and they’re happy to share that sentiment in public.

But why?

It’s simple. Colbert and fellow late-night hacks have created a version of President Trump that is either Hitler-lite, Hitler-adjacent or something close to history’s greatest monster. Who wouldn’t want that version of Trump dead?

The Legacy Media deserves plenty of blame here, too, along with progressive politicians who fed into the toxic version of Trump that many people believe today. Heck, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz appeared eager to read Trump’s obituary sooner rather than later.

The “Late Show’s” ghoulish response wasn’t an outlier.

Mere months ago, two different late-night show audiences rallied behind Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing a healthcare CEO in cold blood last year. Jimmy Kimmel shared how some of his female staffers had crushes on Mangione, without realizing how awful that would make them appear.

Kimmel’s audience tittered at the jokes, ignoring their moral ramifications.

Over at “The Daily Show,” host Jon Stewart seemed stunned when his far-Left audience booed the news that Mangione had been captured after a short manhunt.

“Look, I’m sorry, guys.”

Meanwhile, the mere mention of Mangione’s name caused the far-Left “Saturday Night Live” crowd to burst into applause. That caught Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost by surprise.

He should have expected it, given the modern Left’s cracked moral compass. And he should realize he may have played a small role in shaping it, along with Colbert and Kimmel.

When Homer Becomes Hate Speech

A civilization confident in itself reads the Iliad. A civilization in decline denounces it. Guess which one we are. A confident civilization does not quake at the sight of Homer. It does not avert its gaze from Pericles or issue trigger warnings before mentioning Caesar. It does not treat the Iliad like some toxic spill […]

Court of Public Opinion

Here we go again. Going against the grain is right up my alley, especially when every single person who has ever heard of the word “tennis” disagrees. It happened last week at the US Open, and it had everyone agreeing that Taylor Townsend, a black female American tennis player, had been the victim of a […]

An Unappealing Case

It is now many years since I practiced medicine in an insalubrious part of a British city, but a case in France brought memories of that time. I am not sure that the memories of that time are entirely happy, but they are certainly interesting. The case in question is that of a person so […]
